Accessibility is a very important technology to open the desktop to everyone, including those of us with physical handicaps.
This talk will give an overview of the KDE accessibility module and then focus on how to make Qt/KDE applications accessible. It will introduce the new Qt 4 accessibility module and how it can be used to create accessible Qt/KDE widgets by providing all the required meta-data for assistive technologies. Finally, it will be demonstrated how accessible KDE applications can interoperate with existing frameworks like Sun Microsystem's at-spi.
Targeted audience are KDE developers and developers interested in accessibility.
About Harald Fernengel
Harald Fernengel joined Trolltech in 2001 and is responsible for
accessibility and database support. He is a long time project member
in the KDevelop project and part of the accessibility workgroup at
freestandards.org. Harald graduated from the University of Applied
Sciences in Rosenheim with a Dipl.-Inf. (FH). He lives in Oslo.
